Laying of the first defence block at the Danube Bridge in Bulgaria.

Last 7th August the first block of the defence of the pile caps of the four piles of the Danube Bridge at Vidin (Bulgaria) was lifted and positioned. Main contractor: FCC Construcción.

Each one of those pieces weights 175 tons. A total number of 152 pieces will be installed. 3 Heavy lifting jacks, each pulling 7 strands, are used for lifting and positioning of the pieces.

This equipment can slide over a frame so after the piece is lifted from the floating dock, it can be moved several meters before being lowered to its definitive position.

BBR PTE is performing other activities on this site such as post-tensioning, bars, deck repositioning and stay cables.
